The Kitchen Remodel

While currently still ongoing (July 2024), we have been slowly re-building our kitchen from the ground up, doing all of the work ourselves.  Yes, including the cabinet construction.  This blog, I'd like to highlight the custom work we are doing on the cabinets. 

In 2021, we began the design of our new kitchen, subscribing to Sketchup Pro, and designing the kitchen piece by piece, cabinet by cabinet. We modeled the location of all of the wall studs and planned the locations and framing of doors and windows that had to be adjusted. We also planned the routing of any new electrical and plumbing. The 3D model was essential to our continued success in constructing the kitchen. 

Cabinet construction started in 2022, we built the base cabinets, island cabinets, and wall cabinets throughout 2022 and 2023. Did you know, cabinets are a ton of work? 

Yes, we painted the cabinet's white, using a professional Lacquer finish commonly used in cabinetry.

We are currently still in progress, and plan to finish the drawer and door faces during the winter of 2024-2025. Stay tuned for the finished product!
