Hazelhurst Driveway Washout
A few weeks ago, my neighbor contacted me looking for a contractor to fix her driveway. If you haven't noticed, we have received a ton of rain during the first half of the summer, and some torrential downpours. Well, heavy rain results in washouts, if things aren't properly sloped.
This driveway probably hadn't been grade for 20+ years. Years of plowing and driving built of the grassy edge with gravel and sand, resulting in the driveway being the low point. Over the years, sand and gravel have washed down the driveway, depositing at the bottom. Finally, these heavy rains resulted in large washouts.
The first step to repair this driveway was actually to re-grade the grassy area on the right. The grass wasn't actually topsoil but years and years of gravel and sands. We scraped multiple inches off, and then re-seeded the topsoil and topped with erosion control mat, to prevent any washouts of the seed before reestablishing.
Next, we worked with Rynders to bring in two loads of driveway gravel to re-build the crown in the driveway and raising the overall grade of the driveway.
After only 10 days, the grass was germinating so well, and we had no washouts!
